Official Status with the ASA

On January 5, 1971, a petition was sent to the ASA office requesting the formation of a new section on Statistical Computing. Scans of the actual petition are available, as well as a more readable text version of the document. Official ASA approval of the Computing Section came in the form of two letters following a vote of the members.

Written Histories

Several written histories of the section have also been scanned. We are always looking for new stories or memories, so please send us some email! .

Past Activities

We are compiling a list of activities that characterize the role of the Section as a leader in bringing Computing issues to attention of the members of the ASA.
